Covenant Presbyterian Church - Charlotte, NC

Serve – In the church

We all have gifts to share in our life in faith together

It's important for each of us to play a part at Covenant, and we want everyone to find a fit.

If you're not sure what you might like, take a look at our Ways to Serve Survey to help identify areas of ministry that you may enjoy. You can complete an easy interest form here or contact someone about any of the opportunities listed below. If your calling lies in service to the community or to our nation and world, please see the opportunities in those areas.

Serve in the church

Teachers and Shepherds
Help shape the faith of children and youth by offering leadership on Sunday mornings or evenings. Materials and support are provided by ministry leaders in these areas.

Ushers
Ushers - A welcoming smile and greeting starts Sunday off right for everyone coming to worship. Usher teams distribute bulletins and assist in seating the congregation and collect of the offering at services each week.

Home Communion
Each quarter, elders offer home communion to allow home-bound members an opportunity to celebrate the sacrament we enjoy in worship. This extension of the feast is a reminder of God's love and grace and keeps people connected to our community of faith.

Audio/Visual Operator
Assist in worship by helping video stream and record the Sunday morning services. Many people participate in our services each week through live-streaming or a recording that is taken to Sharon Towers for residents. Your gifts can help make it possible for them to join us in worship.

Recreation Ministry Volunteer
Welcome visitors and members to our Recreation Wing. Volunteers may serve an hour or two at a time convenient to them.

Van Driver
Be part of a team that offers a ride to worship to people unable to drive or drives the church van for trips (youth, TLC) or to pick up and drop off neighbors who stay with us through Room in the Inn during the winter months.

Covenant Crew
Covenant Crew is available to make small home repairs for home-bound and disabled members.  Typical jobs that the Crew tackles include difficult to reach light bulbs, replacing smoke detector batteries or flipping mattresses. Please contact Mary Mattiacci if you have a project for us.

College Council and Secret Saints

Covenant Presbyterian has more than 100 college students enrolled in colleges and universities around the country. This committee acts as a liaison to our college students who may be away at school or here in Charlotte. College Council is responsible for communication to students about events at Covenant. Along with offering invitations to student gatherings during the summer and over Christmas, the Council also ministers to students in several ways:

Secret Saints
The Secret Saint Program matches college students with members of Covenant who provide encouragement through the school year.  Secret Saints remember students on holidays, during exams and various other times.  Members interested in volunteering, please click here to access the Secret Saint Volunteer form.
College Students who need to “re-up” for the coming year, as well as rising freshmen who want to sign up, please click here to access the College Student Information Sheet. If you have any questions, please contact Sally Jackson

College Council
Connect with students by taking a road trip to area colleges and universities. Join our staff and past youth advisers as the they meet our college students and friends for a free lunch, coffee or ice cream.

Parents Nights
We recognize that our young people are not the only members experiencing a transition when they leave for college. Parents Nights are a new endeavor to help foster community in parents of college-age students. We serve in mission together, worship together and help each other through those first summers and holidays when our new young adults return home for the first time.

The Covenant Crew

Covenant Crew is available to make small home repairs for home-bound and disabled members.  Typical jobs that the Crew tackles include difficult to reach light bulbs, replacing smoke detector batteries or flipping mattresses. Please contact Mary Mattiacci if you have a project for us.
