Montreat College Conference "What's Next"  – January 2-5
It is a phrase that we hear and, in these days, say often. In times like this it is easy to feel no one knows what is next. It is a phrase of young adults as they graduate high schools or college. It demands direction. It asks for something concrete. It demands assurance. But seldom does anything have this clarity. During the College Conference we will explore what is next and how we are not alone in the uncertainty that the future brings. More details here.

2022 Montreat College Conference

It is a phrase that we hear and, in these days, say often. In times like this it is easy to feel no one knows what is next. It is a phrase of young adults as they graduate high schools or college. It demands direction. It asks for something concrete. It demands assurance. But seldom does anything have this clarity. During the College Conference we will explore what is next and how we are not alone in the uncertainty that the future brings.

The disciples were left, in so many ways, asking what was next after the ascension of Jesus and anxiously waiting before Pentecost. They had to find a way to keep moving forward. God was faithful to them in their changing world and God is faithful to us. Join us and explore “What’s Next” as we discover and discuss what God might be revealing to us during these times of great change and transition, and how we can keep moving forward as the disciples did.

Conference Details

How Much: $150. You pay for your conference registration fee, the church pays for the house rental and food.
How do we get there:  Typically we carpool so that you can go back to school at the end of the conference since it’s faster to go from Montreat to Chapel Hill/Boone/lots of other places than to go back to Charlotte first but if a bunch of people are going to and from Charlotte, I can rent a van.
How many people are going:  In total? About 1200.  From Covenant?  We can take about 12, need at least 5 to go.

Why you should go:
  • College Conference is incredible, I’ve been a bunch of times and it’s absolutely my favorite conference at Montreat.  It’s just like Montreat from when you were in high school, except now you’re a young adult with freedom and depth unlike before
  • Montreat in January is BEAUTIFUL!  Most of the time there is snow on the ground or actively falling from the sky and Lake Susan is frozen over.
  • There are tons of people there!  You’ll meet college students from all over and make tons of friends!
  • I’m a really good cook and will constantly supply you with nourishment and less nourishing but delicious baked goods.
  • It’s wonderful to get out of the house a bit early after spending nearly a month home with your parents for winter break.
  • It’s an awesome way to reconnect with your church friends and to center yourself as you return to school and start a new year.
  • You are in charge! You’re young adults and will not be treated as children.  I’m just there to hang out and help where needed and cook for you.  Jordan Schriefer may be coming too!  Want to follow the conference schedule? Great. Want to only plug in for some stuff?  Great.  Want to relax and marathon every Harry Potter movie instead of doing anything? Great.

College Council and Secret Saints

Keeping Covenant College Students Connected

Secret Saint Celebration Brunch
Covenant Presbyterian has more than 100 college students enrolled in colleges and universities around the country. This committee acts as a liaison to our college students who may be away at school or here in Charlotte. College Council is responsible for communication to students about events at Covenant. Along with offering invitations to student gatherings during the summer and over Christmas, the Council also ministers to students individually.

Secret Saint Program
The Secret Saint Program matches college students with members of Covenant who provide encouragement and prayers throughout the school year – especially during holidays and exams. At the end of the school year, in May, Secret Saints are "revealed" during a celebration brunch where Students and Saints meet in person for the first time. Members interested in volunteering as a Saint, please click here to access the Secret Saint Volunteer form.

College Students who need to renew for the coming year, as well as rising freshmen who want to sign up to be a part of the program, please click here to access the College Student Information Sheet. If you have any questions, please contact Sally Jackson
