Learn about ancient pottery technique – Caroleen Sanders, Master Potter
Caroleen is a master potter in the Catawba Indian tradition. She lives and works on the Catawba Nation Reservation outside Rock Hill using the tools passed down to her by her mother. For as far back as 2,000 BC, mothers in the Catawba Indian tribe have been using special techniques to craft unique pieces of hand-made pottery.

Wednesday, Feb. 13. Join us in Room 201 of the Ed Wing at 10:30 a.m. for refreshments and 11 a.m. for the talk. No reservation needed.

Trip to Native American studies center to see collection of Catawba Pottery
Learn more about the Southeast’s Native American peoples, including the single largest collection of Catawba Indian pottery in existence. Chris Judge, director of the center, will lead us on a tour. We will have lunch at 521 Barbecue followed by a visit to the historic Lancaster Court House.
