For Children

Children are a welcome and vital part of our community. Our children's ministry aims to give them a church home where they are called by name and discover discipleship and and grow in love of God and others.

With special times on Sundays and Wednesdays, and through our weekday preschool, we share Christian values and themes in a variety of ways — through songs, drama, crafts and service. We also give parents tools and resources to help them guide their child’s spiritual development.

Children are welcome in all worship services. Your child can attend age-appropriate Church School classes, and are encouraged to participate in other programs within the church.

If you have any questions or would like to get connected, contact Anne Lowrance, director of children's ministries, or reach Anne at 704-804-7593.

Summer Sunday School

Runs through Sept 2

Elementary students will attend 9:30 a.m. worship and register with a shepherd in the narthex. Following the “Time with young disciples,” students leave for a lesson in EW207. Parents pick up children from class.

Preschool – Kindergarten children may be brought by parents to first floor at any time during worship. Check in at electronic monitor or classroom door (age as of Aug. 31, 2017). Music and story time are provided in the center hall at both worship hours. (Please note: parents, not siblings, are responsible for dropping off and picking up children from child care and Sunday School).

Vacation Bible School, August 6-10, 2018, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  (FULL)

“As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15b

Children will learn about building households, literally, spiritually and missionally!   Elementary will become a real construction crew with hard hats and nail aprons, to build a shed for a HFH Charlotte family.

Through art, music, Bible study and recreation, all participants will learn about the need for affordable housing, early childhood education, creating a welcoming community and other local mission initiatives.

The Covenant community is invited to attend closing ceremonies on Friday, August 10, time tba, which will include a musical presentation and Habitat Charlotte dedication of the shed.

Lively laughter, sweet songs and, OK, even a few infant cries, rise from the first floor of the Education Wing, a place where our youngest children make their first church friends, hear their first Bible stories and sing their first songs about God's love. Within the safe, nurturing environment, the seeds of faith are planted and begin to grow.

Each Sunday children enjoy interactive activities, cultivating their gifts while engaging in discoveries from God's Word. In a nurturing environment that includes singing, prayer, role play, scripture and leadership opportunities, children learn about God's faithfulness and the love of Jesus Christ. Christian service and stewardship also are emphasized through a variety of opportunities.
