Help the Homeless in Charlotte
Offer hospitality by serving at Room in the Inn. From December through March, we offer our homeless neighbors hospitality by inviting them into our church home, preparing the evening meal, and providing a warm place to sleep.
What can you do?
• Join guests for dinner
• Drive the van to pick up our neighbors at the Urban Ministry Center
• Spend the night
• Donate travel size toiletries
• Pack a "bed burrito" anytime during the week. Stuff a pillowcase with clean linens for use on Tuesday nights.
• Run laundry to or from Hope Haven, which takes care of our linens each week.
Cook a meal or serve at the Men's Shelter of Charlotte or the Emergency winter Shelter. Covenant has committed to regularly serving dinner at both The Men's Shelter of Charlotte and The Emergency Winter Shelter. Can you cook a casserole ahead of time, hand out bananas, or mix a mean batch of lemonade? Texas Hash recipe here
Join a WISH Hope Team. Wish is Workforce Initiative for Supportive Housing, a collaborative project of Crisis Assistance Ministry and other agencies to empower working families to step up and out of the vicious cycle of poverty.
Covenant members can join a HOPE team - a group of four to six people that provide a support system to one family in the form of friendship and advocacy. This is a commitment of love and support that requires free training and a partnership with a social worker.
Hope teams transform the lives of WISH families and your family.
