Texas Hash Casseroles and Desserts Needed

Covenant will provide the evening meal for both campuses of the Men's Shelter of Charlotte on Tuesday, Aug. 29.

That's the Tuesday after Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools begins a new year. That will impact many of our regular cooks.

Ann Marie Elmayan, the shelter's Volunteer Engagement Manager, says volunteers have been feeding 160-175 gentlemen at the Tryon Street location and 120-130 gentlemen at Statesville Avenue, which means we need to plan to feed between 280-300 hungry and appreciative gentlemen.

Thanks to your efforts as of last Saturday, we had 29 Texas Hash casseroles and approximately 200 brownies or cookies in the freezer in the Fellowship Hall.

We will need approximately 60 Texas Hash casseroles and 600 cookies or brownies to feed the planned number of gentlemen.

Joe Pool, our faithful Covenant meal coordinator, will appreciate receiving any casseroles or desserts you can put in the Fellowship Hall freezer between now and Aug. 27 (when we take them to the shelters).

The gentlemen will appreciate it even more and will tell us with their smiles and thank you's.
