Elementary Education (1st - 5th grade)

Welcome to Covenant's interactive Elementary Sunday School program that enables children to use their gifts while engaging in discoveries from God's word.  In a nurturing environment that includes singing, prayer, role play, scripture and leadership opportunities, children learn about God's faithfulness and the love of Jesus Christ.  Christian service and stewardship are also an important part of our children's ministry.

Parents are welcome to observe and/or participate any time.  Visitors are always welcomed.  Teachers and class shepherds are needed for each class on a monthy rotation.  if you would like to serve in one of these roles please contact Anne Lowrance (704-804-7593) for information and training.

Get involved in Children's Ministry.  We need you! Click here to view the form.

Early Childhood

Early Childhood (Infant - Kindergarten)

At Covenant, it's called First Floor - a place where our youngest children make their first church friends, hear their first Bible stories and sing their first songs about God's love.  Within the safe, nurturing environment, the seeds of faith are planted and begin to grow.

On the first floor of the Education Wing, Child Care is provided for infants and toddlers.  Sunday School is offered at two times for ages 2-5.  The weekly Bible story, introduced in Sunday School, is repeated at Covenant Connectio on Wednesdays, 5:15-6:00 pm to increase familiarity with God's Word.  Sunday School lessons include a variety of age appropriate learning activities that enhance the spiritual development of young children.

THIS WEEK on First Floor

This Sunday, February 12, children on the First Floor will be learning the Bible story "Ten Men Healed" from Luke 17:11-19.  Jesus healed TEN men who suffered from the dread disease of leprosy, but only ONE came back to thank Jesus.  Gratitude is so important in the Christian life and it is never too soon to teach it!

College

College Image

Covenant welcomes college students to grow in faith with us during this exciting season of life.

Whether you're from another city but came to Charlotte for college or whether you grew up at Covenant and are studying locally or have now gone away to school, we want to nourish you along your journey.

Eat, Pray, Serve

Each Sunday evening, students gather for fellowhip, Bible study and, of course, food. This semester's study focuses on Luke, looking at the gospel through the eyes of the poor. Eat, Pray, Serve emphasizes learning together and serving together to help the poor in our community. To learn more about it, join us on Facebook.

Local and Global Mission Opportunities

People in Mission

Imagine working with other college students among AIDs orphans in a school setting in Uganda or sitting in a Mexican home sharing a simple meal that may be the only food the family eats all day.  Imagine sitting in a tent in a bazaar in South Africa, drinking tea with a young woman who by summer's end you will call "friend." These are just a few of the memories of our college students who have served in third world countries in the past 11 years under the People in Mission Scholarship.

Each summer Covenant's Global Ministry team sends one to six students out to serve and live among people all over the world. Students are given a $,1500-$3,000 stipend and  return home with new passion, open hearts and a deep spiritual connection to those who live so differently from themselves.

If you're interested, please contact Carla Leaf @ carla.leaf@covenantpresby.org or 704.804.7578.  The application is available for download below, and the deadline is  is March 15, 2011.

Academic Scholarships

Covenant is pleased to offer scholarships for undergraduates (limited to freshmen and sophomores), as well as for graduate students at Union Seminary (Richmond or Charlotte), PSCE (Richmond or Charlotte), or another institution who are preparing for a life of Christian service. Students are asked to complete and submit the appropriate application form.

Click here for the undergraduate information and application.

Click here for the graduate/seminary information and application.

If you have further questions, please contact Lucy Bush Carter, chairperson of the Scholarship Committee.
