"To whom much has been given, much will be required."  (Luke 12: 48)

It is an extraordinary time to be in America and in the city of Charlotte -- from financial news to gas lines to the Presidential election.  With these trying economic times, the life and work of Covenant are even more important than ever.

We are blessed to have a strong church family in Covenant that can rally together to provide support to our members and our community.  Things are happening at Covenant.  Have you noticed our increased attendance, challenging Bible lessons, varied worship options being tried, and new directions for Covenant being forged?  We want to thank you for all you are doing at Covenant to re-energize and support our mission.

As you well know, the operation and management of a church the size of Covenant takes a creative blend of time and talents as referenced in materials we sent out the week of October 13.  These materials recap Covenant’s mission and examples of how we bring the mission to life and also include registration information for an exciting new program called Covenant Impacts Charlotte where we will use our time and talents to serve the community.

In addition to time and talents, strong financials are needed, prompting the 2009 Stewardship Campaign goals:

Ø      $2,628,000 in pledges

Ø      8.5% increase in total pledged amount

Ø      100% pledge card return from active members

Ø      Exceed our pledge goal so supplementary dollars can fund special initiatives as identified and needed.

We recognize that the recent economic crisis directly impacts a number of our members and may result in delayed or reduced pledges while at the same time the needs of our community are increasing. As a church family, we are asking those of you who are less impacted by current events to step up and do more than you would normally consider in order to help fill the gap.

On November 9, we will celebrate Blessed to be a Blessing Sunday through worship and afternoon service to the community.  Please sign up for Covenant Impacts Charlotte and return your stewardship pledge card before November 9.

Thank you for your generous gifts of time, talent and financial resources in support of God’s work.

Yours in Christ,

Kerr & Tori Collins, co-chairs
